  • * Lilit Hogtanian has been accepted to the Trainee Program at Joffrey Ballet Chicago. See her picture on the Joffrey website here.
    * Danica Paulos will be performing in Miami, Florida as a finalist of theYoungArts foundation designed to recognize and support America's most talented 17-18 year-olds in the visual, literary and performing arts. You can watch her performance online on January 11th at www.youngarts.org
  • December, 2011: Our 2011 winter holiday show was a tremendous success! Showcasing ballet, character and modern pieces, original choreography and solo variations, the dancers treated the audience to a truly wonderful performance. The show was followed by a reception generously hosted by our families.


  • December, 2011: Congratulations to Anya Fitzpatrick, Colette Gardner, Misa Griffith, Ariana Kalamaros, Kamala McDaniels, Clara McNeal and Abigail Ullendorff for being selected to dance in Joffrey Ballet's Nutcracker at the Los Angeles Music Center. It was such an exciting opportunity to participate in a professional ballet production!


  • September, 2011: Congratulations to Jolie Moray for being invited to attend Bolshoi Ballet Academy's year-round program in Moscow, and for being among a select group of Young Medal Winners invited to perform at the prestigious International Ballet Festival in Miami, Florida.

  • September, 2011: Congratulations to Jake Unger and Zinnia Nomura on their acceptance to year-round professional dance programs! Jake has joined the Houston Ballet Academy,  where he was placed in Level 7 and was already invited to perform in the Houston Ballet Company Nutcracker. Zinnia will be studying at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Mannheim, Germany. All of us at YGSB wish Jake and Zinnia the very best in their pursuit of a dance career!

  • August 14, 2011: Our student, Jolie Moray, was invited to perform in the "Stars of Tomorrow" showcase, a joint production of Anaheim Ballet and YAGP,  on August 14th at 3:30 PM at Chapman University's Waltmar Theater.   • June 4, 2011:Our spring recital took place on Saturday, June 4 at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. at the Smothers Theatre on the Pepperdine University campus. Congratulations to all the dancers for a memorable performance! Thank you to all the teachers and choreographers for their expertise and dedication, to Pat Guillem for the costumes, and to families and friends for backstage support, refreshments, programs and ticket sales!   • February, 2011: Congratulations to our students Jolie Moray and Jake Unger who performed at the Youth America Grand Prix regional semi-final competition in Huntington Beach, CA on February 11-13.  We are very proud of them and their performances!  Jake received 2-nd place among the senior boys and both Jolie and Jake were invited to the New York Intensive Workshop. We wish them the very best in their future artistic endeavors and applaud their dedication and perseverance in an ever increasingly competitive arena!
  • January, 2011: Here are the latest news from our alumni:

Danica Paulos performed at the Ailey Citigroup Theater in New York City on January 11-12 with the Alvin Ailey School. She was one of only 5 dancers in the junior division to be awarded a named fellowship sponsored by Catherine, Emily and William Steck.

Alanna Archibald is an apprentice with the Bejart Ballet in Lausanne, Switzerland. This year, the company was on a “Tour du Monde in 80 days” and Alanna had an opportunity to perform solo in Japan.

Amanda De Oliveira was invited as an apprentice by ABT II to tour with them for 5 weeks in Europe.  Leaving New York on March 9th, 2011, they will perform in Italy, Spain and Switzerland.
